Even the feared creatures of the deep like to have a party from time to time. And what better place than Sigrid‘s new club! After a year in gestation and many hours of frantic building, her creation has come to fruition in the welcoming tentacles of the grand blue lady of the deep. The gazette got an exclusive preview and a talk with the new club owner:
The Kraken Club concept evolved from several aspects of my life: My fondness of old warehouse buildings on the wharf in the San Francisco Bay area, my fascination with the octopus, one of the world’s smartest creatures, and the nickname “Kraken” given to me by my friends for this fascination. My vision was an abandoned warehouse on a pier that became a place for parties. The envious Kraken wanted to join in, but she’s a bit too large. She tries to fit anyway.

My building skills were limited, so I began asking people I knew if they could help. When I met WeberFrost, I was amazed at his building skills and asked if he’d be interested. He loved the idea, but he admitted that he did not know how to make the kraken. I asked around, but nobody seemed to want to attempt this challenge. So I said hell with it, it can’t be that hard. Yes, it was! But I learned the best method for making tentacles and spent months twisting them all over while Weber was still building the warehouse. Even more tedious was sticking the suckers on, one at a time. But a year after we started, I am pleased with our collaborative effort. The resulting room is complete with dance floor, bar, patio, and a small bungalow at the opposite end of the pier.

The Kraken Club will be opens for occasional themed events with varying playlists, and open to the public.
With special thanks to Sigrid.
