This location takes us back in time to the splendour of ancient Rome. A view across the Forum Romanum reveals a breathtaking rendering of an historically accurate reconstruction 3 years in the making. Every detail in this room reflects the builder’s passion for and deep knowledge of the subject. It provides a unique opportunity to discover and learn about a classical civilisation that made such a mark on ours.

Basilica Aemilia

Business premises and shops also known as basilica Fulvia.

Offices

Offices attached to the senate house. They were destroyed by fire when Publius Clodius Pulcher's funeral was held in the upper forum and rebuilt by Ceasar, around 60 BC.

Curia Hostilia

The Curia Hostilia was one of the original senate houses or "curiae" of the Roman Republic. It was destroyed by fire when Publius Clodius Pulcher's funeral was held in the upper forum and rebuilt by Ceasar, around 60 BC.

Basilica Porcia

The Basilica Porcia was the first civil basilica built in ancient Rome. It was a place for business and banking and the college of the Tribunes head quarters. It was destroyed by fire when Publius Clodius Pulcher's funeral was held in the upper forum and rebuilt by Ceasar, around 60 BC.

Tullianum

Tullianum or Carcer (execution dungeon), the jail itself is not reproduced as it was an irrelevant building and never used.

Tabularium

The Tabularium was the official records office of ancient Rome and housed the offices of many city officials.

Temple of Concord

The Temple of Concord was a place of amicable coexistence of the classes.

Senaculum

The ambassadorial reception hall.

Porticus Deorum Consentium

 The Portico housed twelve recessed rooms where it is believed the judicial clerks of the Capitoline Ascent had their offices.

Temple of Saturn

The Temple of Saturn was an ancient Roman temple to the god Saturn. To the unchanging prosperity of the Roman state, the Treasury was located here underneath in the podium.

The Rostra

The rostra was a large platform built in the city of Rome. Speakers would stand on the rostra and face the north side of the comitium towards the senate house and deliver orations to those assembled in between.

The Well of the Comitia

The Comitium was the original open-air public meeting space of Ancient Rome, and had major religious and prophetic significance

The Sacred Trees and the Pool of Curtis

The Lacus Curtius was a pit or pool in the ground in the Forum Romanum. The history of the area wasn't well known even to the Romans, and at least three different explanations were given for the area's name.

Temple of Castor and Pollux

The Temple of Castor and Pollux is an ancient temple in the Roman Forum. Standards of weights and measures were kept here in a podium underneath. It also served as a second base for the tribunes of the plebs.

Pollius Library

No one knows now where it actually was, so this is just an educated guess.

Granary or Dole

Wheat was distributed to the people here. The location is not certain.

The Arx

With the Temple of Juno Moneta (giver of timely warnings).

Temple of Vediovis

Young Jupiter, god of disappointments.

Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus

The Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, also known as the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus was the most important temple in Ancient Rome, located on the Capitoline Hill.

Temple of Fortuna Primigenia

The sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia was dedicated to the goddess Fortuna Primigenia, or Fortune of the First Born. Parents brought their newly-born first child to the temple in order to improve its likelihood of surviving infancy.

Temple of Ops

The Temple of Ops was a minor temple on the Capitoline Hill in Rome. It was dedicated to Ops (later known as Abundantia), the deity of abundance. An emergency fund of silver bullion was stored here, in its podium.

The Tarpeian Rock

The Tarpeian Rock is a steep cliff on the south side of the Capitoline Hill. It was used as an execution spot for citizens found guilty of treason (an 80m drop onto volcanic rock).

Forum Piscinum

The fish market, the exact location is disputed.

Urban Praetor

The city magistrate which settled all legal disputes within the city walls.

The Census

The Census was taken from here. New citizens would be screened here by the Censors which were usually old men who had themselves been Consol at some point.

The Domi Publici

The homes of the major Flamines: Flamen Dialis, Flamen Martialis, Flamen Quirinalis. It is purely imaginary. It is also the supposed site of the homes of Crassus, Cicero and Ahenobarbus.

The Flower market

The Bath House

Possibly privatly owned. Also, Senian Baths.

Temples of Jupiter Strator

The stayer of army retreats.

Porticus Margaritaria

Jewellers, pearl vendors, perfumers, luxury shops & stalls.

The Via Nova

This was the main street running full length of forum.

Dominus Publicus

Dominus Publicus of the Pontifex Maximus & Atrium Vestae of the Domus Publicus (home of the vestal virgins).

Temple of Vesta

The hearth fire of the state, tended by Vestal Virgins.

 The hills of the Palatine and Germalus

The Palatine Hill, which relative to the seven hills of Rome is the centre most, is one of the most ancient parts of the city and has been called "the first nucleus of the Roman Empire."

The Circus Maximus

The Circus Maximus is an ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium and mass entertainment venue.

Temple of Venus Erucina

Venus Erucina was the protectress of prostitutes.

The Lautumiae Prison

This was attached to the carcer but was very rarely used.
