A Night for Sophie

A Reminder That 3DX Can Be So Much More

Last night in 3DX, something really special happened.

Vibrent and Daveee opened a room in tribute to Sophie Lancaster, a young woman who was brutally killed in 2007 simply for looking different. It wasn’t just a themed room or a playlist night, it was a space that held meaning, steeped in emotion and feeling. Together they told Sophie’s story, played her favourite bands, and gave people the chance to come together to learn about and remember. And people showed up, in numbers, with heart, with respect and with love.

The room felt heavy and beautiful all at once. The music hit differently because you knew why it was playing. You could feel the care that had gone into every part of the night. It wasn’t just a tribute, it was a reminder of a brave woman who was simply living her life, her way.

Near the end of the night, Daveee shared this:

So with my last two songs, let me tell you to not accept hate and hostility. Share acceptance and raise awareness for each and every individual out there.

It hit home. Those words, that moment, he captured exactly what the night was about.

3DX often gets talked about as just a game, or a place for adult escapism. And sure, there’s that side to it. But last night showed it’s also a place where people care, where they show up for each other, where they remember that behind every avatar is a real person with a story.

During my time in 3DX and as co- editor of The Hidden Circle Gazette, I’ve seen a lot of what this world has to offer: chaotic parties, creative builds, wild characters. But nights like this? They stay with you. Because they’re real. Because they mean something. The Hidden Circle was proud to support this evening and the meaning behind it.

Huge credit to Vibrent and Daveee for creating something that went far beyond the usual. And to everyone who turned up, listened, and remembered Sophie, you all made the night what it was.

3DX can be a lot of things. Last night, it was something beautiful.

I can only echo what Eska has said here. It was an emotional experience, and demonstrates what 3DX can be when we come together like this.

Reading your words is bringing me to the brink of tears.

I imagined my set with a heavy heart… but yesterday felt heavier than I ever expected. Sharing Sophie’s Story was important, but also sharing her impact on me wasn’t all that easy on me.

From this brief idea of telling Sophies Story to dedicating a night to her, Vibrent put countless hours into it. My deepest gratitude can’t express how humbled I am that she elevated this night to something I will never forget.

Lookout for each other folks, this is all we have, is us.

From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you Bettsi, Curt, Eska and Vibrent
